RIF and Amazon Bring a Book-filled Back-to-School

RIF is proud to partner with Amazon to support schools and youth organizations across the country. This September, Amazon employees are helping to distribute books and literacy resources to students through Books for Ownership events enabling students to choose books to take home and own. Amazon employees are also adding to the fun by assembling literacy kits for local schools and creating Book Talk videos to share reading inspiration with students.

  • The recent release of the National Assessment of Educational Progress (NAEP) Long Term Trend (LTT) results for 9-year-olds should make everyone take notice – and take action! Sadly as a result of the pandemic, significant drops in reading scores have occured. Read this blog from RIF CEO and President, Alicia Levi and learn how RIF is helping to address this issue and how you can rally with us to prioritize children’s literacy.

  • The month of September celebrates and raises awareness for the importance of literacy during National Literacy Month, something both Reading Is Fundamental and Literati care about deeply. Macy's Mission Every One Delivers Huge Success

RIF is so grateful to be one of Macy’s Mission Every One partners! Together we raised more than $1.52 million in July, which will allow us to continue distributing books and literacy resources to under-resourced communities across the nation.

Join RIF's Latest Every Book Counts Webinar

PreK- Grade 3 educators are invited to get new tips and ideas for how to use classroom read alouds to engage students in social emotional learning (SEL) through this interactive webinar. Picture books are an excellent resource that help students identify the problems a character faces, including relationship-building, exploring issues of equity, and developing stress coping strategies. We’ll be joined by special guests Stefanie Wieder, M.S.Ed., and Paula Jackson, Ph.D., from Barefoot Books who will model how to guide students through this exercise.

The webinar will also feature a read aloud of The Bread Pet, written by Kate DePalma and illustrated by Nelleke Verhoeff. Examples from the book will be provided to illustrate the concept of SEL.

Join our next webinar, Every Book is a Social Emotional Learning (SEL) Book, on Wednesday September 21, 2022 at 7 p.m. EST.

Did you know that September is National Literacy Month? RIF is excited to partner with Literati, a kids book club that curates book boxes organized by age and reading level, to celebrate! During National Literacy Month, 15% of Literati’s new subscribers’ membership fees and purchases will go straight to supporting RIF in providing books and reading resources to our nation’s children, many in our most under-resourced communities. Additionally, upon signing up, you can choose to affiliate your new kids book club membership with RIF so that a portion of every dollar that you spend for the duration of your membership will continue to benefit RIF.
